I’ve did this movie without make-up: Poorna
Any film made by a good team that believes in team work is bound to succeed. And that’s precisely why actress Poorna has such high expectations from her next film, Drohi, which is all set to hit screens soon.
The movie, directed by Sudha K Prasad, has a big star cast that includes Vishnu, Srikanth, Pooja and Poonam Bajwa apart from Poorna.
Speaking highly of the film and its director Sudha K Prasad, Poorna says, “I believe Drohi will do well at the box-office for a number of reasons. One important reason is Sudha, who is a wonderful director and wants something different. She made me feel so comfortable on the sets. If I’ve done anything cute in this film, the credit goes entirely to Sudha. Actually, I signed up for this film after my first film, Muniyandi Vilangiyal Moondramaandu. Work on the film hadn’t started then, but Sudha was particular that I play the role of Malar in the movie right from the beginning.”
Her faith in her director comes across when she says, “I play a rowdy girl who is Vishnu’s sister and Srikanth’s love interest. I’ve done this role without any make-up. In the film, there were several scenes in which I had to harass Srikanth and be rude to him. I couldn’t have done these scenes without the support of Sudha and Sri. I respect Sri a lot.”
Every film has scenes that involve a great deal of risk and Drohi too seems to have had its share of such scenes. Says Poorna, “In the film, there’s a particular scene that involves a rope shot. I had never done rope shots prior to this scene. Srikanth and I had to come down from the sixth floor using ropes and it so happened that Srikanth’s rope got cut half-way through. However, he thought that it was my rope that had got cut and was trying to help me. It was only when he reached the third floor that Srikanth realised that it was his rope that had got cut. Luckily, they had sacks of wheat below and we landed on them. Therefore, we escaped without sustaining any major injuries.”
It’s evident from the way she speaks about her co-stars that she shares a good rapport with all of them. She signs off, “We all had a great time working on this film. This team was dominated by women. The producer, the director and the cameraman’s assistant were all women. Also, there are three heroines in the film. So, you can imagine the fun we had. We ragged both Vishnu and Sri. On the whole, it was a great project to be a part of.”
